Welcome to the Assemblies of the Venice church of Christ!

We would love to have you visit with us in one of our assemblies. You will be our honored guest! We want you to feel comfortable in our assemblies and encourage you to participate in our spiritual activities.

We do not demand or expect any particular kind of dress: we have members and guests who dress up in suits and dresses, and we have members and guests who come wearing t-shirts and jeans. Above all things we are glad to see you in our assemblies and want you to be there!

February 5, 2023, features the 13th volume and 6th edition of The Voice: The Subversive Gospel, considering the how the Gospel of Jesus subverts attempts to justify and rationalize injustice and oppression.

Sunday Morning Bible Class

We are meeting online on Sunday mornings from 8:30am until 9:15am Pacific Time in order to study what God has made known in Christ through the Spirit in the Scriptures.

Our evangelist Ethan is presently leading a study on Embodied Witness, Faithful Witness, exploring how we as Christians should faithfully bear witness to Jesus in modern society. In our studies we encourage questions, comments, and other such forms of feedback; we are coming together to learn together from the witness of the Word, and welcome everyone to share in that conversation with us.

We host our study through Google Meet; please contact us for the link and we will be happy to supply it to you!

Sunday Morning Assembly

We are meeting in person for our Sunday assembly at 10am Pacific Time at the Culver City Senior Center, 4095 Overland Avenue, Culver City, California 90230. We meet in Suites C71, C73, and C75 the first three rooms on the right when you enter from main entrance in the parking lot. We also provide an online option for those who are not able to meet with us physically hosted through Google Meet; please contact us for the link and we will be happy to supply it to you.

We will sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to glorify God and encourage one another, led today by Nate (Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16). We sing without instrumental accompaniment, for God has not provided any authority for us to use instruments in our songs in the New Testament.

We will hear a reading of the Scripture in Matthew 5:1-12 by Gerald (cf. 1 Timothy 4:13). Masterville will then lead us in an opening prayer, giving thanks to God, making appeals for one another, and to ask for His guidance and glory throughout our assembly (cf. 1 Corinthians 14:14-17).

Ethan will then proclaim a message of what God has made known in Christ through the Spirit for between 25-45 minutes (Acts 20:7, 2 Timothy 4:1-4). In January 2023 we are exploring some of Jesus’ instruction; January 22 features a message on ceasing from sin based on 1 Peter 4:1-6, and you can follow along with the outline here.

After a time of invitation, reflection, and prayer, Adam will lead us as we focus our minds on the Lord Jesus and share in the Lord’s Supper (Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26). We provide individual servings of the bread and the fruit of the vine.

Afterward Adam will continue to lead us to give thanks to God for all He has provided for us; a plate is available to provide the opportunity for the members to give back in order to accomplish the work of the local church in benevolence to fellow Christians, evangelism, and edification (1 Corinthians 16:1-4); we do not solicit contributions from our guests. All who wish to give may do so in the plate on the table by the front door or online through the Cash app or Zelle. Our assembly will conclude with announcements and a closing prayer led by Ormaun.

After we have concluded our assembly we enjoy talking with one another and getting to know our guests a bit better; we hope you stay around. Please fill out the following online card if you do not fill a paper version out; we will never sell your information and want to be able to thank you for visiting with us and to be of any service we can.

We enjoy this opportunity to serve and encourage some of our fellow community members.
